Our brief was to create a superior AV and lighting solution that seamlessly integrates with the design concept of this west London development project.
We were delighted to be approached by Zoe Hudson and Talia Cobbold, of Talia H.Cobbold, to consult on their latest project with developer JNJ Properties. We jumped at the opportunity to work with them at one of London's most prestigious addresses.
Working with a developer when specifying a complete AV solution can be somewhat restrictive, as a balance usually has to be found between the performance of a system and the budget allocated to achieve it. Fortunately, with JNJ Properties, they understood that an apartment of this stature deserved the very best AV solution to attract a potential buyer.
Zoe and Talia were keen to ensure that the amazing proportions of the apartment were lit properly and wanted lighting control to facilitate that. Fortunately, the fixtures they chose, and the layout of the rooms, meant that Lutron Grafik Eye was the perfect solution. We divided the apartment into four areas - Sitting Room and Dining Room, Entrance Hall and Kitchen, Master Bedroom, Dressing and Ensuite and Additional Bedrooms - and used a Grafik Eye or combination of Grafik Eyes to create zone control in three of the areas (it was decided that the Additional Bedroom area would have traditional lighting control). We chose to install Lutron SeeTouch keypads to control the lighting and spent considerable time ensuring that the scenes worked perfectly with the options available with the Lutron system.
For audio, we used a Sonos infrastructure with Connect:Amp units powering the five areas of audio required. We used discreet ceiling speakers from Monitor Audio in all zones, with Kinetik fire hoods to meet building regulations and to help prevent sound dissipation to the apartment above. The speakers give a wonderful sound and create enough oomph to deal with any future house-warming party that could be thrown at them.
However, the real show-stoppers were the video displays. We installed a magnificent Aquavision mirror TV in the master en suite, to accompany those lazy muscle soaks that every Londoner needs. And for when the bath is finished, the silk pyjamas donned, and the time has come to sink into the sumptuous sofas in the Sitting Room to watch a movie, we decided that a mirror TV was the ideal option. The quality of the display is perfect for watching a film, but when the pyjamas and popcorn need to make way for ball gowns and cocktails, the screen completely blends into the background.
The final results in this Knightsbridge apartment were breathtaking. Zoe and Talia did a wonderful job with the interiors and we were pleased with how easily we integrated advanced AV into this beautiful home.
