Our clients are a busy professional couple with three young children, living in West London. During a refurbishment of their Victorian terraced home, they decided to take the opportunity to explore the AV possibilities available to them.

The Brief:

Our clients wanted a top-notch sound system to make the most of their extensive music collection. They were keen to find out about a video setup for watching TV and film, but as their previous TV viewing experience had mostly consisted of having CBeebies on in the background in their kitchen/diner, they had some concerns as to whether there would be sufficient benefits to justify such a system. As personal, as well as professional, AV enthusiasts we knew that the right AV installation can achieve so much more than a quality picture and sound experience; it can become the focal point of family time. After in-depth discussions with the whole family, we suggested creating a family space to make movie nights a real event that everyone can look forward to.

The Video Solution:

With no prior dedicated system, ease of use was the starting point for our solution. Our initial building blocks were a Control4 system and Kaleidescape Cinema One as they are very user-friendly, with intuitive user interfaces. We opted to specify a Control4 SR250 remote to keep an element of familiarity when operating their new system - during our Client Tuition Session everyone was up and running with the remote in a few minutes. To provide fantastic image quality, we chose a Panasonic 60" plasma display which, as the last plasma model made, is still perceived to offer one of the best HD images.

The Audio Solution:

The audio selection had to be excellent at achieving an immersive movie experience, as well as spine-tingling musical escapism. We chose a 5.1 Artcoustic surround sound system and an Arcam AVR, due to the unique and acclaimed musicality of both and our experience of partnering them regularly with huge success.

The Result:

We delivered a system that operates beautifully on a technical level. However, we went beyond our clients' expectations and installed a dedicated space in which to enjoy time together. The finished room really has connected this busy family and they even have a new Sunday tradition of a film and plenty of popcorn. The clients are delighted and so are we.
